I'm planning of installing a magnaflow catback in my C5 and am wondering do I need to have the computer re-programmed once the installation is completed?
However, the Magnaflow instructions do recommend to disconnect the battery. They say it will allow the computer to reset or recalibrate itself to the new free flowing exhaust. Whether there is any truth to this or not, I don't know but I did disconnect my battery during the installation for safety sake.
Battery unhooked or not, the computer has the ability to compensate for small changes in airflow. The O2 sensors simply tell the pcm it needs more fuel and it provides it. If the increased demand continues, the LTFTs change to compensate.
