Default newbie Tuner questions

Hello there.

I'm a newbie to these forums and am very much appreciating all the great information I am getting here. I'm taking delivery of a new 02 mag red Z51 coupe this weekend. WOO HOO!!!!! :)

Anyway, I want to add a little "something" in the power catagory. I've been looking at the base packages from several tuners out there. Lingenefelter is high on the list because they are only about 3 hours away. From what I am reading here, I should definitely consider the Vette Doctors, despite the distance difference.

So I ask you all, are there any others i should be considering?

They seem to all offer impressive numbers, but one question I have is reliability. Since I'm not very close to any of them, this has to be a big priority to me. So, what do you think about the reliability these different tuners offer? I would love to hear feedback from owners of these packages.

Thanks so much and I will thank you all in adavance for any advice you could give me.

Scott

As far as reliability... I cannot give you any info from first hand experience...

A couple of my friends have had Lingenfelter do work w/o any issues. You may also want to consider Mallett Cars, they do good work, I have my car there at the moment for a Heads and Cam Package... I was told to expect ~370RWHP with an Automatic... with a very steetable cam. Mallett told me I could get an extra 10-15RWHP from a different cam... but it would not be too streetable...

I would suggest Lingenfelter because their base package, also consists of a exhaust ($800) , and intake ($200) ... which makes the H/C work about $5800 ... which is fairly competative since the warranty is second to none.

Their 430HP package, from what I have heard, is highly underrated. My buddy got about 360RWHP ... which is more than 430HP(Flywheel) on an automatic...

If Lingenfelter is only 3 hours away, then just go there. Don't even have to think about others...

I have one of LPE cars and I am very happy even though I am so far away from them. Would I send them another car? Absolutely.

While a bit further away than LPE, you might want to check out Agostino Racing Engines (ARE) in Toronto. They do great work at very reasonable prices and are terrific to work with. Good luck with your new baby!
