Hi,
Got an `98 43k miles and after 12 years one of my TPS finally gave in.
Got the message on dash and looks like the front right needs replacement. I suppose I should replace all of them since looks like they are going to fail any day now. I`m planning in keeping the car.
Should I replace all of them or just the faulty one?
Could you please provide me with info on best place to purchase them since I don`t want to pay dealer prices...webside address and/or phone numbers please. Or any alternatives like buying rebuilt ones with core exchange etc..ideas?...cannot have mine rebuilt since I need the car on a daily basis.
How much life is left in your tires? If they will need replacement soon, you might wait until then to replace the sensors. It will probably cost $20 labor per wheel to just replace the sensors, but virtually free when included in a tire change. I've had one sensor that occasionally fails for the last two years, so I'm waiting out the tires to do it all at once.
TY for all replies!
Unfortunatelly cannot have mine rebuilt since cannot pull TPS`s out on my own.
I think I got a great deal at tirerack for $63 a piece shipped and hardware included (nut and rubber washer). The ones for the 01-04 models are $36 at tirerack!
I asked about manufacturer and they said it`s Shroeder (315 MHz) and it`s OEM. GM has contracted them from the very beginning
Good Luck with the Tire Rack sensors. When I got a new set of wheels, the vendor installed Tire Rack sensors. My car would not recognize them. Even the local chevy dealer tried, with no luck. I finally talked my vendor in sending me a set of GM sensors, and they worked perfectly.
