I have an 02 vert that I'm looking to get some additional performance out of. Now that I have looked through all the posts I'm thoroughly confused!! I want something that I can reverse, something that I don't have to cut existing shrouds etc. I have been looking at the Blackwing. i have also looked at the K&N Gen 2 induction systen and FIPK. They look the same to me but I'm new to all this. Can I use the blackwing with the high flow air duct? or is that what the Gen 2 and FIPK are? Any help would be appreciated
The Blackwing would do fine (and is a lot less than the K&N FIPK) as would an aftermarket exhaust to give you some sound if you want. These are by far the first and two most common mods C5 owners make. Don't waste money on the high flow air duct. The Donaldson flows more than enough to feed a stock motor. Have fun.

The Blackwing would be right for you. No cutting, very simple install. Unless you want an appearance mod under the hood, the high flow duct is a waste of $$. I'm very happy with mine. :seeya
Best mod to your vert is keeping your butt in the driver's seat. :D
I like the Blackwing and agree that the duct and coupler mods are mainly for appearance. You'll see lots of pictures of 'tuner' cars and they usually have the stock accordian coupler.
The shroud is a cheap item to replace, around $60. Just my choice, but I think the Vortex has a very high cfm.
Agreed.
You can do it both ways also. Buy an aftermarket cut-out shroud for around $50-$60 or modify the original and buy another (if ever necessary) from the local dealer for about the same price.
Vortex has proven best bang for the buck in my opinion out of all the induction parts and systems out there. Vararam does not have 'proven' dyno numbers yet from everything I've heard and seen.
