Default Leaf Spring?? Z06 vs Coupe

I'm about to swap my stocks sways and shocks with the C6 Z51 sways and C6 Z06 shocks. I was curious if I should also look into swapping to an aftermarket leaf or are the Z06 leafs better? Or just stay with what I have????

I swapped my FE1 base sways with Z06 sways and was amazed at the handleing difference. You will love your swap.

That said, a few weeks later I swapped my base springs for Z06 springs and didn't notice much of a difference at all, other than the suspension was stiffer.

Curious if the stiffer spring would be better for my car as it will be lowered.

Were you asking about C5Z or C6Z springs? The C5 springs can be found used for about $400 (cheaper than aftermarket), and are a nice upgrade. I cannot confirm or deny that C6 Z springs would even fit.

The C5Z Z51 and Z06 front leaf springs are the same part number. The C5 Z06 rear leaf spring is stiffer than the Z51 rear leaf spring.

huge difference with the C5 Z06 leaf springs, best mod I ever did..add Bilstien sport shocks and C6Z06 sway bars= pure sex...

the C5 Z06 front is 526lbs/in
the rear is 714lbs/in

440 lb/in, front; 577 lb/in, rear --- C5 FE-1/Base

I posted my findings when comparing Z vs. base springs awhile ago. You can find it here

Don't remember ever seeing any for sale. About what do the used sets go for? Does it create a rougher ride when just cruising. Any good aftermarket springs?

I got mine for $275 shipped, which is about as cheap as I have seen a pair. I'd say don't spend over $400 shipped.

Mine are sitting in my garage while I wait for the snow to go away. Looking forward to getting them on in the spring.

If you want to see who has them for sale just post up a "Want to Buy" in the C5 parts section.

Like has already been stated, used sets can go for as much as $400 shipped.

Yes the ride is rougher but obviously no worse than a Z06.

Yes there are good aftermarket springs but they tend to be pricy, just do a search and you will see.

Were the Z06 spring rates ever changed between years, or all they all the same as posted above?

I've got a set of C5 Z06 springs and Bilstein Sport shocks that I just took off my race car.

I bought the springs used. I put about 15 track days on them.
Shocks were new and about the same amount of time on them.

I had base coupe. Springs and shocks made a big difference on the track. I didn't think they were that rough on the street.

PM me if you are interested.
