NO...I'm not sure who "they" are, but that is just not true. 1 or 2 HP maybe, and it's not peak HP...it's HP along the power band. Your intake opening is 78mm though, so no point in going with an 80mm unit.

I wouldn't bother with a separate TB. I found a stock 78mm, used unit on this forum ported by Shaner and I immediately noticed improved throttle-response. As for hp gains, I'd say very minimal though.

Done right, it helps. Done wrong, and you get issues.

I did my own on a previous C5 I owned. While I didn't have any negative issues after doing it I also didn't notice any real positive difference either. BTW, I do have all the proper tools for doing it. It was a challenge I enjoyed doing but I wouldn't waste my time doing it again to my present modded C5 Z06. I definetely wouldn't waste any money on one from someone else.

I ordered mine from Vmax and i will be the first one to tell you that the throttle response was MUCH better. It was well worth what i paid for it! England Green set everything after the install, and it changed their mind also as to whether it was worth it or not. They also noticed the increased throotle response.

While I did notice improved throttle response at the track the e.t. gain was minimal.

I would advise against it. I installed a ported TB from a known forum vendor. I immediately had a fast idle probem that had be be corrected by a tuner. After the tuner got done with it it idled normally with no real SOTP performance increase. If I had to do it over again I'd spend the money on taking my wife out to dinner. More fun, less frustration and my car would run the same!

This is a bad situation that you have had. I had high idle, reduced power after i installed the ported throttle body the first time. The second time i installed the SAME throttle body, i didnt disconnect the battery. The first time i had. I also have had upgrades to the engine prior to the install of the throttle body from Vmax. The second time i installed with the battery connected, and it ran fine.
Again, each situation is different, mod's are different.

Yes get the ported TB...probably like 2-5 hp gain @ the most...but it does improve throttle response across the board.(to clarify....if your peak hp is 320rwhp...and you add a ported Tb...your peak Hp is probably gonna be 322rwhp, which would be within the margin of error for most dynos, however there maybe more Hp gained at various points along your power curve....and especially down in the low end)

To people that are having issues with the ported TBs.....you can do a search on here for the "idle relearn procedure" this will cure your engine lights and high idles @ cold start.....the engine needs to be calibrated for the additional airflow. A tuner is not necessary...but can definitely facilitate this.

To the nay-sayers.....the engine needs to be calibrated for the additional airflow....more air in + more air out = power.

Like I said. No real SOTP gains.
