Default Another Brake Pad Question

have searched and read several threads about brake pads....all with a lot of different opinions....

I need to replace the brake pads on my 02 C5 coupe, the fronts now, and the rears later. Plan on using blank rotors

I am concerned the most with noise, and stopping power. I drive on nice days and weekends, drive aggressive at times, and do the 1/4 mile thing a few times during the year, and would like to go to a few autocross/solo events during the year.

What pad would work the best for me?

Biggest concern is noise....brake noise drives me crazy

I suppose the biggest question would be if you are willing to switch out your pads for autocross/solo? If so you could run a ceramic on the street and switch out for the track. If not then you might want something more in the middle like a Hawk HPS.

I think the Hawk HPS would work great for you. They are our most popular selling pad.

I agree that the HAWK HPS pads are GREAT ! They dust little and stop GREAT.

I have used GM Ceramics, they dust VERY LITTLE (white dust) but stop badly and they warped my rotors.

Z06 OEM Pads
Hawk HPS
Carbotech (although I am not sure which one would work for you. I am sure Carbotech will chime in)

are all good IMHO.

Would the Hawk HPS work for autocross/solo?

I have never tried it, but would like to this year...

or would I have to swap pads to run autocross? I plan on running a street tire class also, so its not like I have an all out race car or anything...

I run the Carbotech bobcats on the street and the XP10 on the track. The Bobcats would be the pad for your application. They are very well behaved on the street, no noise, limited dust and great stopping power (for a street pad).

well, seemed like the best choice were the hawk hps or the carbotech bobcats...

i went ahead and ordered the hawk hps, will report back after machining the rotors and installing the pads after they arrive...

I went with the Hawks HPS last week, and I like them. Its was only a 35 mile drive, but nice. I wash my car often, so the dust itsnt a factor
