Hi all,
I need some guidance with doing a fluid change on my Vette. I've read so many posts on here and am totally Can I get some advice on what all to do(just the fluid, fluid and filter-is there a kit) and what brand of fluid to go with? "But wait, there's more"......I would also love a step by step DIY to complete the collection. FYI---I have 72K miles on her. Thank ya very much
I hesitated as I saw previous posts that wrong fluid causes leakage
Have a 98 A4 and about 80k on mine. Saw posts saying that some Dexron fluid will cause the seals to leak like a sieve. Can someone comment on what fluid is good for the older C5s like 97 and 98s.
Also would appreciate instructions to change the filter above the pan.
BIGHANK
there are several instructionals on the filter change - do a search. You can not change the trani fluid yourself - the trani and TQ converter have to be power flushed to get all the fluid out. Best you can do is get aprox 30% out yourself. Some guys claim flusing your trani is bad for it; Ive got 79000 miles, 2 flushes on a 400+rwhp and 400lbft car. No problems,.
Everyone has an opinion as to the "best" fluid to use, again do a search if you want opions, just remember what they say about opinions. Best advice is contact quality manufactures, ie GM, Royal Purple, Amsol, etc and ask them what's best for your car.
While you're at it think about changing your rear end fluid at the same time
