Default traction control

I do not think I have the competition driving option on my 99 frc. I have held the button down and it is only an on/off. I tried to look at my options in the glove box...but it was smeared by cleaning by the previous owner. What would it take in parts to have this option?

Thanks,
Jim

Competitive driving mode is only on cars with the Active Handling option.

With that, there are 3 modes:

1 (default), both Traction Control and Active Handling systems ON.
2. (press button) Both Active Handling and Traction control OFF.
3. (hold button for 5+ seconds) is Comp mode, Traction Control OFF, Active Handling ON.

So, if your car does not have Active Handling, there is no possible way of leaving it on, which is all comp mode does.

Thats very interesting. I have a 2000 FRC and have never heard of this. I will have to give it a try. So to be clear about competition mode (traction control off and active handling on) you have to press the button and hold it for 5 seconds. Will there be anything in the display to show that you have successfully put your car in competition mode? The reason I ask is because I thought only the c5 zo6 had this option and not the FRC.

If your 00 FRC has the JL4 Active Handling option....

Have the car running, but not moving. Press and hold the TC button, until you see "competitive driving" appear in the DIC.
You can reset the message to clear it from the display, but you will still be in comp mode. Also note the TC dash light will remain lit as well.

On 01/later cars with Gen2 AH, this can be done on the fly. But 98-00 models must not be moving. And again, if your car does not have the Active Handling option, then of course this mode doesn't exist.

Well I guess you learn something new everyday. I am the only owner of this car, bought it new in May of 2000 with less then a mile. I even drove it off the truck. Read the owners manual cover to cover and somehow missed this interesting piece of info. Will have to wait a few months until the snow is gone to go try out the new experience. Should be a blast with some sticky tires holding her to the ground in cooperation with all the new Pfadt suspension. (Coilovers, sways, polys)

Thanks again.
