I think the heading says it all, but I'm planning on putting some Corsa "Super-Tips" on my 2002, of course I already have tips, and I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some background on how to remove these tips properly. Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to remove them, but changing them is a good move IMHO. I don't really care for the Cadillac tips on the 2001-2002 C5s. :nonod:

I wanted to do the same thing. They are spot welded on, so it looks like you may have to grind the welds off. However, I did a quick check a month ago and I could not get my grinder near enough to take care of some of the welds, so I gave it up for now.
THRAP 42,
I'm not sure exactly what you were saying with your previous post, can you extrapolate on that a little?
So is drilling out the welds about my only option? Just out of curiosity, can they be CLEANLY reinstalled if for some unknown reason I don't like the look of the Corsa's after a while.
Thanks again for all the help. I love how people on this forum don't spend all day just talking trash. :)
Quicksilver, I have the same concerns as you. I have a set of I guess older (new condition) tips I bought off Ebay that I like, round. But I am afraid if I cut off the other ones and these don't fit, then I am up the proverbial creek.
BQuicksilver,
I'll trade you my 99 mufflers for your 00 mufflers and meet you halfway between Indy and St Louis to do the trade. Other than a nice drive for both of us of about 2 hours that's it. I've got Corsa Indy's installed but need to keep a set of stock mufflers.
Thrap, I'm really looking for something a bit less labor-intensive than swapping mufflers. (I know, I know, It's not that big of a project) But I'm on call quite a bit right now and really doubt that I'd have time to make either the trip of the swap. Nonetheless, I sincerely appreciate the kind offering.
Does anyone have any more feedback on their experiences with this? I'd love to be able to pull this off as commitment-free as possible.
BQuick,
Not a problem and don't blame you for looking for an easier solution. Good luck on your search, sounds like Andy's suggestion is the best to date.
I have a 2002 vert with the stock chrome tips, which I don't like. I bought the Corsa tips and took my car to the local muffler shop to have them installed. To make a long story short, if I had to do it all over again, I would remove the hanger bolts and drop the rear of the exhaust system then grind off the two spot welds on each tip. The tips will slide right off. The Corsa's will install as advertised.
