Default bolton performance parts

hello i thought i read once in your forum about this but i couldnt find any thing, my question is this:
i have added k&n filters, air intake system, borla stinger exhaust and x pipe and want to add the granatelli mass flow air sensors what i thought i read before is that none of this will do you any good (as far as horse power) unless you get it dyno and retuned. Is this true?
thank you

The K&N will give you a few HP even without tuning. Borla stingers will only give you sound, not power. The Granatelli MAF is a total waste of
money and might cost you some power. Do a search on here about it and you'll see nothing but negative posts. Save that $300 and put it towards a good set of LT headers and after you get them then get the car tuned.

I did all the bolt ons from vararam to the GHLs at one time. The car sounded much better, but didnt seem to pick up all that much power. I drove around with it for a year, before I had a cam installed , then had it tuned.

Ran great without a tune, and no issues. It would have run better with a tune. I know after the bolt ons, Id want more power, so I waited for the tune

I would have agreed with this statement until I read this in a book I bought recently.

This is a quote from "Dyno Proven GM LS1 - LS7 Performance Parts" p.18.

The LS1 test engine was a GMPP LS1 crate engine that was modified with a COMP XR265HR cam and LS6 manifold and K & N cone air filter.

Equipted with the factory MAF, the modified LS1 produced 462 hp and 440 ft-lbs torque. Replacing the stock MAF with a Granatelli piece resulted in an increase in power to 472 hp and 449 ft-lbs torque.
This is an increase of 10 hp and 9 ft-lbs torque.
The new MAF change improved the output from as low as 3000 rpm and carried the gain past 6000 rpm.

The Granatelli MAF also changed the airflow mixture slightly from 12.5:1 to nearly 13.0:1. The MAF showed impressive torque improvement even in the midrange rpm.

This changed my thinking. I try to keep an open mind.
Hope you enjoyed.

Haven't see that one, just going by a few people I know personally who spent the money on the GMS MAF and got absolutely nothing out of it. Who did the dyno testing? GMS? I wonder.

I'm installing that same cam, I know that if I get 462 HP I would be a very lucky guy

462 ? yep very very lucky

I'm expecting 430sh at crank and 400 or close on the wheels.

I'll let you know when I'm all done.

To say "a few people you know personally got nothing out of it" is based on what? Opinion? Dynometer testing? The 10 hp and 9 ft-lbs of torque gained in the dynometer test in the book probably would not be noticeable on the street.

You ask "Who did the testing? GMS?" Do I detect a little sarcasm?

When statements are made, it is good to know if the statement is based on opinion or or solid fact. The information I shared is based on fact and I told the source, ie the book.
