Default Change wheel sizes

Hi All,
I am thinking about changing my wheels and the ones I want are only available in 18". Does anyone know if it will cause problems if I differ from the original wheel and tyre size?
Thanks in advance.
George.

Default wheel/tire calculator

George `ole buddy , you haven't searched the archive have you?

When switching tire /wheel sizes you'll want to keep the same front to rear stagger ratio The OEM (for my Z06) is 265/40-17 with 17x9.5 (54mm offset) and 295/35-18 with 18x10.5 (58mm offset). The stagger difference in diameter .700 inch. It is generally accepted that you should not expect any problems from traction control, ect if your front to rear stagger is >.500

Use this link to help calculate tire /wheel compatibility. Punch in your OEM as a basis and go from there.

Thanks for the info.
I did actually check the archive before I wrote the thread but I must have missed it.
I have already picked out a style of wheel I want but it isn't available in both 17" and 18" and the tyre centre over here then said that it wouldn't cause any problems going to the same size all round. Naturally I was a bit sceptical. Not enough people know about Corvettes here in Australia.

Hey George! You can still achieve different diameters front/back, even though the rims are all 18's. I'm running 18's all around, with 285/35-18(25.85 dia) on the front and 295/35-18(26.13 dia) on the back. The difference is about .28, and it works perfectly!

Is your Vette left or right hand drive?

Right hand drive.
Here in Queensland any vehicle newer than 30 years must be converted.
Its a major job on these newer models and costs between $40K and $50K.

I'd love to know how that's done. Do they make a custom dash panel? What about the steering rack...do they source something from a different car? Is it all aftermarket work, or did GM have something to do with it?

I am running 255-40x18 front and 285-40x18 rear and it works perfectly. These sizes are a little taller than stock which is perfect to help fill in the wheel openings. I used a tuner to adjust the speedo but it was pretty close anyway.

265/35x18 on 18x9.5" wheel and 295/35x18 on 18x10.5" wheel is perfect for a C5.

Diameters will compare perfectly with the OEM Z06 sizes of 265/40x17 on 17x9.5" wheel and 295/35x18 on 18x10.5" wheel.
