I have a 02 Z06 that the past owner installed a B&M 45057 shifter. I've really not bonded with it at all. I read all of the threads on the 09 C6 shifter. A friend down the street has a 09 C6 standard shift and I drove it today and I'm sold on the shifter. I really liked it. I have the parts numbers on the GMPP site but I need info on the boot. It sounds like my C5 boot might not work, without being modified. Can someone tell me what you have to do to make the C5 boot work? Also can someone tell me where you can buy a C6 boot for a C5.
Edit: I just checked the info @ GMPP. Here's what it said:
This kit comes with the 07 and earlier **** due to the shifter **** screw hole location. If the 08 and up **** is used, you must use the 08 shifter boot, which does not fit on any C5's.
Does that mean that my C5 boot will work?

Reason: more info
I have an 08 and up **** already and want to do the shifter swap. What boot can I use? The part # on the **** I have is 15851631.
I just installed an 08+ in my '99 and although it's difficult, the boot will stretch over the bottom of the shift **** with a little effort. Looks perfect.

I know its easier to just ask what you think is one specific question but........... Gene Culley has the **** and screw.
The C5 boot is taller, but the neck is smaller. Just modify the neck area. I cut the threads and install a chrome harness ring that will fit over the C6 anti-vibration connection on the shifter arm. Then just fold the material over the ring and sew it in place. Or buy a modified boot like Redline Products or Ken King
Phil, here's a funny one. I installed a Borla exhaust on my Z06 this weekend. The wife hasn't been at home when I started the car. I was playing your video (and I have good speakers) and she walks by the office and she says: "That's not your car is it?" I guess that means your car sounds really good.
