My 98 has Corsa Pace exaust (purchased car with system instaled) and H pipe.
The motor boat sound at idle is horrible. The minute I accelerate the motor boat sound dissapears and a nice growl comes out.
I hear that an X pipe makes the idle motor boat sound go away.
I`d like to hear opinions from ppl that have had installed an X pipe after having an H pipe with Corsa Pace...any difference (SOUNDWISE) and if yes how much (%)...TY
My car is STOCK so please compare it with same.
After running Corsa Pace Cars for a year or so, I replaced the OEM pipe with a Corsa X pipe. I didn't seem to mind the sound at idle even before I replaced the X pipe. I don't think the sound (motor boating) changed much after the install so I probably wouldn't spend the money to just improve the sound! Others may have had other results! Good luck, Ron
I installed my Corsa Pace car system 18 months ago. I have American Racing headers with an X-Pipe. I have never considered my car sounds like a motor boat! My only issue is the drone I hear while cruising the highway around 60-75 MPH.
I had Corsa Pace Cars with rest of system stock. I also did not really mind the idle sound as much as the gargling that it did when decreasing RPMs. I since changed to a full LG Streets/x-pipe setup with the Corsa Pace Cars and it resolved that noise for me as well.
I had a cam installed at the same time, so idle is now louder and slightly different then a stock setup, but I really don't think of it as a motorboat sound.
I don't have any drone with my system (at least not that I hear) I am quite happy with the LG Streets/cats/x-pipe setup now, sounds good at idle, great at WOT and quite at cruising speeds.
I take it you don't have headers. From what I have heard, headers will also change the sound because most come with the X pipe.
My experiance was back when I first installed my Corsa Pace Cars all I had was stock exhaust with the H pipe. At idle it sounded like a motor boat. Going down the road it popped when I let off the gas. Then I installed a Magnaflo X pipe and the motor boat sound was gone along with the popping sound. The X pipe also smoothed out the exhaust sound and it's not as loud. I could swear it felt like it had more power too.
If you do this I think you will like it much better.
I just installed Corsa pace cars last month and I don't like the idle sound either. Stock exhaust had a deeper sound then these do. They sound great when you are on the gas though. Tech guy at Corsa told me an X pipe would get rid of the burbling at idle.
on e stock set up it`s impossible not to hear the motorboat sound of Corsa`s..I`ve heard it on other c5`s as well....At idle Borla`s as an example has a deep tone vs Corsa`s motorboat sound gurgle...stock pipes are quiter at idle but deeper tone
some ppl claim not to hear the motorboat idle sound of Corsa`s with stock set up at all
other`s claim that x pipe gets rid of the motorboat sound others hear no difference after the X pipe is installed
Here is my car being dyno tuned. It has a ProCharger P1SC1 on it. You will hear it go WOT! The two men in the seats are doing the tuning. My son is running the camera. I am the one in the jeans and blue t-shirt near the end of the video going to check the max boost gage after the run.
