Default Confirm Bolt Size

Is the bolt that mounts the top of the shoulder harness a 12mm 1.75
size. Stuck at work now and can't research too much and can't find in the archives. I found references to the Torx size but I need the thread and pitch.
Any help apperciated.

The GM parts listing does not list the thread size on that bolt. As you now it is a special, hardened steel bolt with a smooth shank and a Torx "button-head". The thread diameter mikes at 11.8mm so that would mean it's a 12mm (nominal) bolt. I don't have a pitch gauge, so I don't know for sure what the thread pitch is however.

You may just need to remove one and run it through a known nut to confirm.

Thanks, I couldn't get to the parts list here at work. Just wanted to double check that it wasn't some unique size. I miked the bolt last night with the same results as you. I got 1.75 on the pitch gage. I didn't have another nut or bolt to test it so i tried to run a die over the bolt but needed too much force to get down to the threads, but like you said, it is hardened. I wanted to order parts, a male clevis and rod ends to put a removable bar in that location. I'll stop and get a 12-1.75 on the way home to make sure. Thanks alot.

Glad to help. I would like to get both my OEM bolts machined down for the entire length to the same diameter of the threads. I installed a Brey-Krause harness bar (rock solid piece btw) and when I use their upper bolt for mounting, I can't reuse my OEM Torx (smooth part of shaft is too big) bolt. No biggie except that this does not let me re-use my plastic flip-up trim cover piece and leaves all the hardware exposed. I would like to be able to re-use my trim piece for appearance purposes. It gives things a more "finished" look.
