Corvette Assembly Plant – Suspended Plant Tours

To: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Please be aware that the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky has suspended all plant tours through the end of March, 2002. This includes public tours, family tours, and tours that are given as part of the R8C Museum Delivery package.

The Corvette Museum Delivery pacakage is still available for order, and will continue to offer Corvette customers a memorable delivery experience. Customers with March Museum Deliveries will be shown a detailed video of the production process at Bowling Green, including areas they wouldn't see during a normal plant tour. Commemorative 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Package

So what are some semi-reliable or possible rumors for what the Anniversary Edition will entail. I have heard that it will be on Coupes and Convertibles only. And since I will be getting a new C5 at some point this year it definitely has my attention.

Will it be just an appearance package like the 45th? With red/red and stitching on the seats?

Or could it be something REALLY cool like a Coupe with LS6 and other ZO6 equipment?

If it is mostly appearance, then I'm not interested.

BUT - if it offers LS6 in a coupe? :eek: I will give you a downpayment RIGHT NOW. Just keep me at the top 'o the list! :D

Humm, plant tours suspended thru the end of the month, humm, new 50th anniversary car coming out, HUMM, CORVETTE the Indy 500 Pace car:: Sounds like something going down the assembly line GM doesn't want seen YET!!

 

Yes, like the same car with a different color and some decals, and some stiched in emblems in the seats. I think there are going to be some real disappointed people around here. :cuss

Or, maybe some of the rumors of C6 beta cars are true and they are going to be in the building....

They probably don't want to make the same mistake that they made back in April 99 during the C5 BB. They had the new Z06's on the line while 600 or so C5 Corvette owners were touring the plant. Dave Hill would not answer any questions about the curious things that we saw on the line. "Titanium exhaust"? ... "New engine"? ... "New Wheels & Tires"? ... "Next question please!" was all that he would say ;) :) Was it a mistake by GM ..... or a good marketing strategy??!! In any case we got to see the new colors (MY and DBG) and the new Z06 long before they we officially released.
I've planned on moving up to the 03 since buying my 98 back in '97. I hope that it looks as good as the rumors are describing it.
