Default C5 A4 to C6 A6 conversion

Maybe someone has already discussed this but I wasn't able to find anything if it is here.
Is it possible to install a C6 six speed automatic into a C5 with an existing four speed automatic? I'm not really concerned about the "tap shift" but I suppose while I'm at it I should include that in the question as well.
Does anybody have any experience with this mod?

Oh. It's doable for sure. You might end up spending 20k and having to change over entire wiring harnesses and PCM's, but it's doable.

With tranny swaps, it's usually cheaper selling your car and buying one with what you want already installed. Sounds like it'll be cheaper buying an LS3 C6 than swapping the A6 into your C5

So I take it there's no one on here that has made the swap.

As I recall my co-driver, who works for Hydramatic said that the length of the transmission is different, and therefore you would have to modify a bunch of stuf to physically fit it into the car. For that reason, it is much easier just to start with a C6 that it fits into and go from there.
