Dash Lights problem/need help!!!

First time user

I have a 2004 z06 corvette. When I approach the car to open the door, the dash lights go on and after I start the car they go off. The only way I can get them on is to turn the head lights on. The dimmer switch has been checked and is in the full position. The dimmer switch is not my problem.

Are the dash lights supposed to stay on after you start the engine?

Please help.

Not unless you turn park lamps or head lamps on.

This is a feature of the C-6's but not the C-5's to the best of my knowledge
