Default jacking pucks

LOL....this can never be used for a shop project...but it works and is simple...

4 hockey pucks.....cost $4.00
EYE bolt(slightly smaller than the opening in the frame) with washer and nut....cost <$5.00

Drill hole through puck, insert eye bolt, secure on botton with washer and nut. Insert one in each jacking location. Works just fine on my mid size lift with the Vette.

I went out an got A HOCKEY PUCK. Got a 1-1/4" metal eyelet
( looks like a closed treaded metal hook for hang stuff up) screwed the eyelet into the puck, inserted the combination into the jacking hole and, by adjsting the width of the eyelet opening and the depth it was treaded into the puck, got it to where it would fit in the widest part of the jacking hole but when rotated 90 degrees would "snug-up" and not come out. I got the puck from my grandson and the eyelet at home depot - think the total cost was $0.19.
Do it before my patent comes through.

Default Read the OP's post!

To the guys who are telling him to get hockey pucks and Eye bolts, you are missing the OP's point.
He wants to machine them as a school project.
Of course it easier to get the pucks and eyebolts, that's what I did also and I could have machined them but I wasn't looking for a school project.
I think it's a great machining project. It sure beats making parallel clamps or a hammer.
Good luck with the project.
Please post pics when done!

PS:
If you really want to do it from scratch, forget the dimensions already listed. It's relatively easy to machine from a BP. It's a little more of a challenge to create the BP also.
Go under the car and measure the width and length of the slots and also the depth of the slots and come up with your own design.

I did the same thing.... ten years of hockey coaching and hundreds of pucks came in handy!

I found a cheap way: Went to "Harbor Freight" purchased clear caster wheels for tool cabinets. I removed the metal brackets, turn the 1 1/2 clear wheels on the side, put an 1" eye bolt through it and wa-la.. instant jack pucks. The cost about $3.89 for the wheel, $58 for the eye bolt (This is not really needed, but it keeps it center in the hole in the vehicle). Cheapess way I know of and works.. Good luck.
