I've had my coupe into the dealer four or five times for the same thing and they just can't seem to get it right. At freeway speeds I get excessive road noise and some air coming through the passenger door/b pillar (quarter pannel) seam. So far, the dealer has adjusted the window three times which stopped the air/noise leak at the window/b pillar area. They've added insulation to the door and rear quarter panel. They've adjusted the striker plate for the door. The only thing they haven't done and what I suspect is the cause is replace the door weather strip assembly. Can anybody help me out?
:mad
Hi Bandit1,
Replacing the door seal is a pain. If there not careful they may damage the paint.
What year is your car? New used? Mileage?
Just as a precautionary measure you may want to have the car checked to see if it’s been in an accident.
If they have correctly adjusted the window and it still leaks. It might be that there tech doesn’t know what he’s doing.
(First what is there procedure? Do they wet test the car? Do they road test car?)
I do hope things work out for you,
I've got a 99 coupe with 23K miles on it. I did buy it from the original owner with 12K miles on it. The owner advised it had not been in any accidents and I did a search on it and didn't find record of involvement (not full proof though). Chev does a road test after each adjustment. I'm the one who usually does the water and road test after they've finished and return it for warranty work when I'm not satisfied. The mechanic is pretty good. We've discussed the window tipping procedure and how he has adjusted it each time. He just hasn't seemed to be able to get rid of this excessive road noise problem.
I feel for ya!
Glade to here that the car hadn't been in an accident.
I have the window porceedure and have adjusted mine. I still get wind noise now and then. But it doesn't leak.
Where did you get your copy of the window tip procedure? And how hard is it to get the adjustment dialed in? After the warranty runs out this year, I'll be back to doing my own maintenance. I'll be getting the red manual, but I'll take any other infor I can get. :smash:
I have the same exact problem. Drives me nuts. Tried everything. Luckily the service manager at the dealer where I bought mine also has a 01 coupe. His makes the same noise and he is pissed. He has vowed to find the cause. If so, I'll share the result.
Thanks Hemi. Mine goes back in on Monday for that and some other warranty stuff. The only other fix I can think of would be the door weather strip. I will be looking forward to the fix if your service manager finds one.

Please do so as I have the same problem with wind noise. :(
Just got mine back Monday afternoon. Tech said he had the shop foreman ride with him on a test drive. Corrective action reads something like no leak found; sound is from tire whine while meeting the road surface and design of the hatch back. Have you been able to come up with anything?
:cry
Wow, sounds like the classic pass the buck. I stopped in to talk to the service manager today as a mater of fact. He said his district rep will be in at the end of the week for some other business and he will grill him about our problem. He laid his vette up for the winter but mine isn't. I offered to be on call and bring mine in if needed. Hope this gets taken care of. Geez.
Followed up with the service manager to see what he found out from his rep. Basically he said this was the first he has heard of that problem and he advised anyone with the problem (including the service manager) to file a product report. I guess with the more of these reports filed, Chevy is more inclined to do something-------yeah right. You could say I'm not real happy. Now it's back to trying to figure it out myself. That's how it's always been in the past except this time my wallet is about 50 grand lighter.
The service manager is about as happy as me. He said it doens't end here. I'll keep this thread up to date on anything I learn.
Had mine in to the dealer yesterday for the same noise complaint. After going for a drive together, the tech found the noise comes in near the bottom of the glass. The tech thinks they windows may be tipped in a little to far, since the seal is very tight at the top of the glass. The car is scheduled to go back once parts get in for my rocking driver's seat. Good luck with yours. I am hoping this means mine might actually get fixed.
