Default Loose door window

I am in the process of new amp and speakers in doors and noticed that with the windows down that my passenger door window is very loose compared to the drivers window. I have the interior door skins off of both doors. Noticed it when I shut the door, the passenger door window just rattles around. Any help or thoughts? Thanks, Mark

I'm interested as well. My driver's window rattles when it's down and I shut the door - makes the car sound like a cheap POS.

Since you have the door panel off, you might look at the window regulator brackets that hold the glass in to make sure the plastic inserts that run on the rails have not broken and fallen out.

Comparing the two sides they look the same. I don't see any broken or parts missing. Any other thoughts??

I used some of those felt furniture sticky pads to replace the factory felts and reduce the back/forth motion of my windows when they are completely down.

It still rattles a bit...but is far better than it used to be.

Door panel removal and inspection of everything is a must. I believe most of the problem comes from the cables stretching out over time...and it can only be remedied by replacing the cables and regulator.

There’s not much to the window mechanism as you can see. Check that the bolts/nuts at the top and bottom of each rail are tight, the glass is seated correctly in the clamps and the clamp bolts are secure (you checked the plastic as mentioned in previous post). Check the weather strips as they too provide support. Last thing would be the cable system / motor – I’ve replaced broken ones but even when broken the window didn’t rattle. Old or stretched cable may also be a problem?
Good luck – let us know what you find.

Well... I removed the speaker, removed the large access rubber panel cover and everything is in place and tight.. but.. still have that loose rattling window in the down position.

The drivers side window is tight to the outside part of the door in the down position, no movement. The passenger side has quite a bit of movement. Not front to back but in and out movement. I checked the brackets that hold the glass, the nuts are tight. I tried the window tip in adjustment. Nothing seams to help. I would sure like to find a remedy for this before I close everything back up. Any other thoughts?

So, the movement is outside to inside of the door not left to right (front / back of car). If neither rail is moving put your hands on the glass clamps and check for movement there. Compare results to the good door.
