I'm looking for the part numbers for Z06 front and rear calipers. I have talked to 3 dealers, visited one dealer and searched the internet for 4 hours with no luck. Any help is much appreciated. I'm wanting to retrofit them onto my 69 Firebird, I have part numbers for the non-red calipers but wanted to check the difference in price betweeen the two, compared to painting a regular set red.
There is ABSOLUTELY no difference between the Z06 red calipers and the standard C5's with the exception of color, so you'd probably be better off buying the unpainted set and paint your color of choice.
Painted mine with special mix high heat polymer paint. A few considerations for you to think about....
1. 7 hours using a little model brush. Too many nooks & crannies to do with a bigger brush.
2. Polymer paint does NOT come off your hands with gasoline. :) You have to wear it off... so don't paint them prior to an important meeting where you don't want people asking how you got so bloody.
3. Be sure to let the paint completely set up prior to putting your wheels back on. The paint is heavy and will have a tendency to run... and drops on the inside of your just-remounted wheels will suck. Experience talking here... let the paint have time to dry and be sure to use a bit more catalyst than the mixing jar specifies -- just a bit, not much. Perhaps 30 to 40% more over their recommendation.
4. Paint right over the raised CORVETTE lettering... then simply wipe off (carefully) the tops of the letter before the paint sets up. That way you don't have to repaint the letters and the factory silver shows up quite nicely under the red around it.
5. I had them add some darker red to the mix... I didn't want them to have that orange-ish tint. I'm not a torch red fan (sorry guys) because I don't like the BMW orange tint to that shade red. :) The calipers turned out truly fire engine red.
In terms of stopping, there is no difference. I saw a set of red Z06 calipers at Breathless Performance's web site I believe... $450 was the price next to them. They didn't specify whether that was for 1, a pair or for the set. I sincerely doubt that would be for a whole set of 4. The paint (1 pint) cost $48 including the catalyst and brushes. Take your time and the finished product will look great.

Sorry... I forgot to mention: Be sure to use brake parts cleaner spray prior to starting the paint job. And regardless whether the can says that it leaves no residue, it WILL. Thoroughly brush down the just-cleaned calipers with rubbing alcohol. Let it dry before starting to paint. And protect your paint from the brake cleaner spray by using a pizza box or piece of cardboard between the caliper and the body. That way the paint will stick much longer, won't flake and will adhere with no problems.
You can buy a complete set of Z06 calipers (yes, all four of them!) from Xtreme Motorsports for $329! The price for a single fron tcliper from the dealer is about $165. http://www.xmotorsports.com/home/index.html
