Default OBX header install

I am going to install a set of OBX headers on my 2000 FRC this Saturday. Have read the posts on this forum but am still confused on the O2 sensor placement and do I need the extensions (elec)? Any other tips would be appriciated. Thanks in advance

I don't believe you'll need the extensions, that's why you use the rear o2's in the front (they're longer)...

If you aren't running cats you don't need extensions. You can swap the back sensors. If you are running cats you need to install front extensions. The backs are fine. I'm running cats.

If you put the rears in the front position you will need wiring adapters, or cut and splice the wires which I don't recommend.

I believe that you can re-pin the connector, using the front connector on the rear o2...Not really easy, but if you have a good tool, you can release the tab and pull the wire/contact from the plastic connector...

Don't even bother with moving the rears to the front. It's not needed.

I run this setup and you can run the fronts in the front. I have been for about 5 months now and never had a code from it.

You will need 02 extensions. I can show you where to find them if you need me to.

Either plug the rears or install the rear sensors in place. If you plug them be sure to tune them out or you will get annoying codes.

One tip with the 02s is to thread them before placing the pipes on the car. The threads are the best and it's damn near impossible to thread them while they're on the car. Your arms will really be sore by this point too and it makes it even worse.

Take off the tunnel plate and cut/drill you a nice size hole for the front 02s. Do that before you mount the pipes. You have to remove about 2,000 screws, but it comes out pretty easy.

I helped a friend put kooks on his car and it did seem like there were 2,000 screws in that plate!

While you got the tunnel plate off add a layer of heat insulation. I used some Thermotec (like dynamat) heat shielding. If I still had Lizard Skin, I would have used that instead. It worked pretty well keeping the heat out. Just trim the edges so it doesn't interfere with the tunnel cover fitment.
