I have a c5 with 6 speed an I'm turning 1500 rpm at 70 mph and a buddy of mine has a c5 with automatic an he's turning 2500 rpm at 70 mph , I understand that I have six gear's but still 2500 rpm at 70 mph for him seem's like alot is that normal?

If the automatic has 2:73 gears, he should be turning 2730 rpm in 3rd gear and 3150 if he has 3:15's. You should be turning 3420 rpms in 4th gear with 3:42's with the 6 spd. All this is at 75 mph in the gears noted.

My auto would sit around 1800 in 4th (OD) around 70 on the freeway if I remember correctly. I've since replaced my stock 2:73 gears with 3:42 gears and now it's around 2200 in 4th at the same speeds... these numbers are from memory, I haven't driven all winter so they may be off slightly.
