Default Winshield Washer Pump Always On

Guys I just changed the multi switch stalk and wiper system stalk.

Well they both were installed with out incident, however they wiper motor is staying on still! After a few choice words, I have decided to search again. So far I have came up with nothing. I have no idea where to go now.

The pink wire has constant 12 volts, I cannot find where the fuse is for the w/s washer pump or even the wipers for that matter.

Can anyone direct me further in what to check next?

Thanks,
Ryan

I have the meter on the wash motor plug with constant 12 volts. The only thing I can do to take voltage away from the washer pump is to turn the parking lights and or headlights on.

This thing is wearing me out!

You can pull minifuse #10 in the passenger footwell fuse box to disable the wipers/pump. Was the switch you installed new? Unfortunately, it is the switch assembly that controls 12 volts to the pump, so if the switch is not activated, the pump will not run.

Use the schematic, and check out the switch itself with a DMM to see if the contacts remain shorted.

The switch checks out good, I unplugged it from the car and we still have 12 volts on the pump plug.

Still if you turn the parking lights on, the voltage goes to zero on the pump plug.... I guess it's either tracing wires through the harness or leave it unplugged.

Ok, what happens when you unplug the entire MFS?

I have not tried that yet, but I did pull minifuse #6 out and lost the mystery voltage to the pump plug.

I am going to unplug the mfc switch(it is brand new as well) right now.

I am afraid this is the result of some bad splicing at some point and time...

Yep, sounds like you've got wires shorted somewhere. Time to disconnect both ends, and start doing continuity checks on individual wires.

Based on what is happening, I would think the short is downstream of the headlight switch itself. It may even be at the feed through area (P200). The headlight off input, and the pump wire both go through P200.

I appreciate all the help for sure.

One thing, where is P200 in/on the car? I am going to guess that it comes in somewhere around the passenger side front wheel well area. I am pretty sure the car has been hit in that spot.

Don't know if this will help, but it is directly from the service manual:
-------------------------------------------------
P200
Instrument panel harness, RH side of Instrument panel on dash panel
-------------------------------------------------
I know that's not much info, but that's what it list for location.
