So I installed my new Tick Adjustable Master Cylinder Saturday to compliment my new RPS Street Twin Lite clutch. Install was not too bad, took a couple of hours (I have small hands - which helped a ton I am sure LOL). I am not the sharpest tool in the shed and am having trouble adjusting this thing. No matter what I do with changing the rod length, the catch/release point of the clutch is very near the top of the clutch pedal travel, I would say every bit of 7/8 of the pedal travel is where the clutch engages. I personally dont really like having the engagement point that high in the pedal travel. Is there a way to get the engagement point a little closer to the floor board? I have tried screwing the golden colored threaded rod into the master cylinder as far as it will go, adjusting the pedal height to various places, all with no avail. I also am having a hard time "feeling" with the clutch if it is releasing 100%, as I dont "feel" any free play in the pedal when the pedal is fully released. This is my first adjustable hydraulic clutch, and I sure dont want to mess up the new RPS unit. All I have done so far is inch the car forward to check engagement, I have not driven the car, as I am afraid to until I am 100% certain the clutch releases 100% AND I am not over extending the pressure plate fingers when pushing in on the clutch. Can anybody walk a dummy like me through the adjustment procedure? I have been unable to find anything in the search that talks about changing the engagement point. Thanks in advance.
no it will always engage at the top as it should...adjust it just enough to make it release...this will give a lower release point....but relative to pedal travel it will remain at the top of the travel....the throwout bearing/slave spring always forces the bearing against the clutch fingers thus causing disengagement as soon as your foot hits the pedal
FWIW my clutch pedal is probably 1 1/2 or 2" below my brake pedal and Im getting full disengagement...would be nice for launching if the release point was lower in the pedal travel ....i do agree with you there

WOW, that makes for a low pedal height! I have been trying to keep the pedal relatively close to the brake pedal height. Thanks for the explination in your first post though. I understand now. I think I am going to have to get a helper spring to extend the cruise control disconnect switch though if the pedal is going to end up that low - no biggie if I do.
How to I go about making sure the clutch is fully released? Like I said, I am having a hard time feeling any free play at the top of the clutch pedal stroke. I am not keen on doing the 6000rpm in a parking lot clutch fully depressed and see if the car creeps method to be honest.
Is the clutch inspection plate still off? Have someone depress clutch, and you should be able to see if released. IIRC proper release is not much. From what I gathered from one of the Tick threads on LS1tech, adjustment is about getting proper release separation, not about pedal height. In the LS1tech "Manual Transmission" section there are about 100 threads on the Tick MS. Good luck with it.

Inspection plate is on, and I dont think it will come off with the headers installed. Thanks for the tip about LS1tech.com, didnt even remember to try that site DOH!
Ya I was under the impression that I could adjust the point of engagement/release within the pedal travel, but apparently that is not the case. I am to simply adjust overall pedal travel. I may end up with a pedal that travels 3", or I may end up with a pedal that travels 6", just depends on my clutch and where it fully releases. Regardless the engagement/release point will always be near the top of the pedal travel.
