i plan on purchasing LT headers with high flow cats soon..il be running this sytem with my borla straight pipes..
after installing the system will i NEED to get a tune right away? im kinda short on money and saving up for the headers, so can i get away with not getting a tune for a while or will my car run like garbage without a tune?
how wouldnt i? i mean i planned on getting high flow cats anyway..just threw the question out there..
i know a lot of people around here that aren't running cats
Conversely, I don't know anyone who I hang with that isn't running cats... they are all also between 650 - 765RWHP.
If it's just more noise you desire, and saving a couple of $$, I understand running no cats. If your think it will precipitate a significant HP increase...don't bother.
well it would save me $$ cuz im very short on money im saving up for the headers..im just worried about back pressure also.. and i do like the noise =)

not going to have enough back pressure..wont that decrease performance? whats the difference between running highflow cats and running no cats
Considering you have zero mods, I would not get distracted with how back pressure(or lack there of) impacts performance. Again, because you have no mods, the difference between running cats v/s no cats won't be noticed(except for the noise and smell). Additionally, I can only surmise that because funds are tight, that you won't be getting a tune any time soon.....so the full potential of the added headers will not be realized anyway.
For the post '96 vehicles, don't they still do the test by plugging in the OBDII?
Remember how they would actually run your car on the simulator at various speeds? I think for vehicles '95 and before, if it passed sometime within the last couple of years, it would be exempt from emissions testing as long as you own the vehicle, right?
But bolting on headers shouldn't cause a code, should it?
back pressure is a load of crap. exhaust velocity is what matters, not back pressure
greatt to know! load off my mind haha
