Vortex Installation Question
I decided to get a jump on it this evening by removing the stock air box and bridge. So far, so good. I installed the stock bridge and coupler onto the Vortex filter and box and did a test fit with the Vortex box laying on the uncut shroud. I can't get the bridge to snap back onto the retaining pins on top of the radiator cover, and I'm concerned about the bridge wearing on the hood liner.
Is this normal at this stage of the installation? Will the bridge snap onto the pins after I get the shroud cut (I'm not doing any cutting until tomorrow when the light's better)? With the hole cut in the shroud, will the shroud flex inward enough to allow the bridge to engage the pins? Are the pins not used with the Vortex installed? I just want to be sure that all this will fit properly before I start cutting things.
Thanks.

Here's to you going for the install. I had the exact same problem with mine, and it left an imprint. Then, when I later took out and re-installed the top of my shroud to paint it, strangely I could get the whole unit to snap back down. The only thing that might have changed is that I no longer have the MAF wire plugged down in the hole under the air coupler. If that's not it, then it was just a matter of fighting with it until it aligned.
good luck.
Thanks for taking the time to reply, but this thing is a no go.
I fiddled with this thing last night, and off and on today without success. I'm *really* shocked at how poorly it fits. Doesn't fit is more like it.
With the stock bridge snapped down over the pins and the air box without the filter resting on top of the shroud, the hole for the filter must be between 1" and 1-1/2" out of alignment. No amount of twisitng, turning, mashing etc. will get them to line up.
If I can't figure out a solution between now and Sunday evening, I'm going to call Exit28 Monday and see if I can return it.

I snapped the tunnel back on and had a little rise ( No imprints of flags ). the filter was tight so I used a dremel to hone out a little larger portion on the cover. After that it was easier to get the filter on an off. Take off enough to get the bind out. Hope this helps.
