I am getting my Transgo shift kit installed Monday. I really need recommendation on installation specs. I want a firm shift in every gear. Can anyone tell me how should I set it up? I need passage diameters and numbers of washers to use
I dont have experience with a Corvette (see signature) but I can tell you on my Camaro SS I went with the three washer set up to compensate for the Yank 3000 stall and the Torque Management Control in the PCM. I think the three washer set up is great. If you just drive at low or medium throttle, you will feel a solid but not neck breaking 1-2 shift. The 2-3 shift seems very little effected by the kit. I was told another modification is needed to get a more snappy 2-3 shift, but I am satified the way it is.
WOT or near to it is another story.....you will get a mean chirp on the 1-2 shift and if you are not carefull you might go sideways if you are not lined up correctly. If you take the car to the track you will need good tires to hookup or you might loose a tenth or so.
The TransGo was the second best mod I did besides the Yank 3000. It just woke up the car and made it a beast. Make sure whoever installs the kit knows what they are doing and make sure they get the trans fluid level perfect or you might think the kit is installed wrong. Good luck with whatever you do :D
