OK, I have some pix of the Borla's I installed on my C5 this morning. I just came back from a 25 mile run to see if I had changed my mind about what I had posted earlier about the sound of them.
Nope ! I still feel the same way - this is how a V8 Vette is supposed to sound ! They ARE NOT annoyingly loud. It is louder than the Corsa's but you wouldn't be buying these if you were satisfied with the Corsa's.
Best described as a deep low throaty sound. I thought they were going to be a lot louder and was very pleasently surprised. I don't know gow to do a sound clip, but I can say that if you bought this system you will not be disappointed unless you are looking for something REAL loud - then your next step is a SLP Loudmouth.
Had Borla in coupe and the cabin noise was a little to much for us. Are the any better in the cabin. 2 instead of one should be better and I really like that cannon effect.
Team5150: The tips look real close to the plastic fascia in the pix. I'm not sure I'd like that. Maybe its just the pictures make them look closer than they are. All the best. :yesnod:
Th cabin noise is comparable to the Indy's - just a little more but not obnoxious and I was running without the top on. At stop lights you can hear the exhaust - that's nice.
The outlet are right up by the facia with maybe a 1/4" seperating them. They are double wall and the heat does not transfer. I was a little concerned of that myself, but after a spriited 20 min drive the facia was not hot.
I did not care for the "twin cannon" look at first, but it does look nice and it is different from all of the 4 tubes out there. With an exhaust plate it looks OK.
Avanti - You got me thinking about the tips and this morning I went out to look again. I decided to lower them a little more just to be on the safe side.
All I did was loosen the muffler clamp and pull the tips down a little. Two minutes tops for this adjustment.
FRF Z06 - the tips stick out about the same as the corsa's
I ordered my system from Nate at Xtreme. His price was $399 + shipping which turned out to be a whopping $13 !:D
Nate said he would have them and he lived up to everything he said - I actually got them last Thursday, but I had a race on Friday and I wanted to wait until after the race to put them on.
I drove it a bunch today and love the sound. If you ordered these you won't be disappointed !
They do look good but I still prefer the looks of the Corsa ProSeries. I sounds like they may be a better sounding exhaust for those who like their cars to growl. I just can't get over a complete cat-back for less than $400.  That is amazing. :yesnod:
One additional thing (a plus in my book) with the Stinger you don't need to drive on to 2x4's before going up the metal ramps I have ! With no big muffler right behind the tire the ramps just fit under without a problem.
1. How close do the pipes get to the rear tires? Any issue with a larger wheel/tire (I use CCW 17x12 & 335/35's in back when racing).
2. With top on and windows up, any interior resonance in 6th gear around 1,500rpm?
I really listened for resonance this morning go into work and I can't find any !
At 1500 in 6th it just sounds like the Corsa's did. They do get loud at about 3600 RPM as you come onto the powerband , but that's why you buy them.
The pipes don't come any where near the tires. Or not any closer than any other muffler system would. Here is a picture.
