EMERGENCY: Zero Oil Pressure
No codes have been set though...
Thinking bad sender or pump perhaps?? Any insight is appreciated....
It could be a clogged or failed oil pump, the sending unit, or computer glitch.... or a combination of all 3. I wouldn't mess with it, unless he's got a cherry picker and likes yanking engines, dropping oil pans and playing under the car. Just my .02. Tell him good luck -- and to NOT run the car until the problem's identified.
Does it regain oil pressure if he 'blips' the throttle at idle?
Is there an associated "low oil pressure" warning on the DIC accompanying the guage reading?
Could be the sensor, but could also be a stuck oil pump pressure relief valve. Had that happen to me last year and GM bought me a new engine.
Don't drive it either way until you figure it out.

As others pointed out....don't drive it. Have it flat bedded to the shop. They can hook up an auxilliary oil gauge and see if there is any pressure. There have been numeous posts of oil pump check valves sticking in the open position and causing no oil pressure. Probabably will turn out to be the sending unit, but can't take the chance.
Good luck to your friend.

Don't start it again, don't drive it. Take her in and have it fixed before more damage comes along.
