Default hud problems

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Was going to replace my hud today for this problem. The image falls to the bottom out of view when the car is shut off. Upon restart I can push the up button to bring it into view but it will only move about 50 percent of the time. If the image is up and i want to move it down a little it will drive all the way to the bottom even with the quickest tap of down. I was on the site today to get instructions for removal when I came across a tread showing a pic of a pivot motor to the side of the projector, I thought the motor was in the projector unit itself. I have already replaced the control switch for the hud but same problem. There is no jerky motion or does not fall sideways as if the proj is falling off the pivot pin as some have stated. Should I be replacing my motor as my projector appears fine. Does anyone have a good used motor? Have you seen a wire harness go bad? Could it be getting bad info from the gauge cluster? Does someone have a good link with info on pulling the dash to access the hud, some posts say to remove the steering wheel others no need to. I have a 2000 vert. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Mike.

Your problem is most likely in your projector. You will need to pull the dash to access it. Its not as hard as it sounds. Plenty of DIY threads on it on The Forum. You can find a decent replacment on ebay. Or at least thats where I got mine when I had a similar problem. Appx cost $90. You'll only need 3 tools. A 7mm, 10mm and a T15 Torx. Its about a 3 beer job.
