STOCK a4 vert 273. what is the 1-2 shift rpm's ? I never keep it all the way to the floor cause i dont want to hurt my engine. engine just turned 40k. I like mashing and not worry about the rpm but get friggin to nervous. to me the car is fast.and dont want to take my eyes off the road. if someone or thing ran out in front of me it would be then!!
umm? it will shift for u, its an automatic.. as long as u a rev limiter you will be fine. if your talkin about manually shiftin it, when it hits about 6k shift it up, because it will take it a second to shift once u move it.
ur not going to hurt anything with a factory rev limiter, you can spin these motors over 7k!

Yea i leave it in drive. what is the factory shift point at wot?
Should shift at 6000 or a tad above, just drop the hammer and let it rip - its what it was designed to do. Of course, make sure you are in the right place to do so...
there are 2 different gear ratios available on the automatic 2.73 and 3.15.. .. Based on your information and the variance between the 2.73 and 3.15 gears . this info cannot be correct.. It may be correct for 1 0f the gear ratios but not both. So for example if the factory programs the transmission shifts points based on mph and not rpm as you quote... 1 0f 2 things would happen... at 46.00 mph on all the cars the 2.73 would fall about 500 rpm short of the red line( 5500rpm) ... or the 3.15 cars would be bouncing off the rev limiter at 6400 rpm. It would make more sense for the factory to program the shifts at a certain rpm (6000) rather than a certain mph as you say..
02... the answer to you question is your tranny will shift right at the redline and it will not hurt you motor.... The LS1 is a very durable motor.... Someone quoted you can spin the motor to 7000 rpm,, That is just not true or the redline would be at 7000rpm.. The weak link is the stock valve train on the ls1.. Valve float becomes a big issue at 6500rpm with the stock valve train.. The motor by itself or in combo with a aftermarket heads cam package night be able to withstand 7000 rpm, but thats really pushing the envelope
