Hello,
I am building a C2 vette rod with an LS1 engine, I have a DeWhitt Radiator, there is no way to fill the radiator up with fluid other than take the top radiator hose off and pour the fluid down the hose. Then do the same for the fluid to go in to the engine. My LS1 still over heats after about 3-4 minutes. I can feel the hoses and they are cold, which indicates (i think) a VAPOR LOCK.???? QUESTION : WHAT IS THE CORRECT WAY TO FILL THIS KIND OF RADIATOR?
Thanks George PLEASE PM IF YOU CAN HELP ME, I DON;T GET TO COME TO THIS SITE TO OFTEN
Nice build! Where is your overfill tank? On a C5 there is a warm up/cool down procedure which is suppose to burp the system and get the air out of the block. It is also the place you fill up the system with coolant. Since it is a pressurized system a specific type of overflow tank must be used and vented correctly, remember the LS1 in a C5 usually runs above 200 and the full fans don't even come on till around 236! Stock thermostat don't open till 194. For your application I would check into an in line cap that splices into top hose but that still will not solve overflow issue.
