Default Need help on exhaust

Have a 2003 Corvette that has been diagnosed with a bad catalytic converter. Was running real sluggish & had a real bad smell. Thought it might have been bad gas at 1st, but then the check engine light came on so I took it to a shop for diag.
Want to keep stock exhaust, saw some oem replacements online, was wondering if anyone knows if it has 2 or 4 cats. Was looking at catco replacements, any input/suggestions would be appreciated.
Live in Toms River, NJ, would also like to know if there are any recommendations for a good Corvette mechanic in the area.
Thanx

2 one on each side. The better question is what killed the cat? They are generally covered for quite a long time by GM, look in the owners manual.

Same thing happened to my 03 last year. They are covered for 8 yrs and 80k miles. Had mine replaced under warrantee. Beware they don't have a great stock of these at GM so you should only give your dealer about a week to locate one. Then call 1-800-222-1020 and tell them you need help with a warrantee claim. They can check inventory at dealers that are not connected to the main database of parts inventories.

They will also light a fire under your dealership and make sure you get great service, since they know that GM will contact you about your experience.

The part costs about $1200 if not covered.

Good luck.

Check with your Dealer- Almost 100 percent certain the cats are covered by Warranty . I know they are still covered by factory warranty on my 2002 Z06.

Thanks very much, just called my local chevy dealer, will have it towed there tomorrow, as they said don't drive it while check engine light is blinking. Again, thank you for your prompt & extremely useful & helpful reply!!!

My 2003 had 4 cats (2-regular;2-pup). If you want to keep your stock catback exhaust I would suggest a set of AR Headers (they come with hi-flow cats).

just sayin
