What is the thread size on the c5 shifter. I bought a c6 **** that has been modified to fit the c5 shifter but I don't know how to install it so the **** faces the right way, Some one said I could just use teflon tape but I don't know if this will work. any suggestions Thanks Jimbo
Use a 9/16-18" jamb nut (just like the HURST *****).
You should be able to get them at any well stocked hardware store (ACE or TRUE VALUE, not HOME DEPOT). They're thinner than regular SAE nuts. But, a regular nut would also work as it'll be covered by the boot. Since the **** is leather and not rigid, two nuts locked together might be a better idea. It'll take some adjustments to get it just right.
Teflon tape is for plugging plumbing leaks. It won't aid in placing the **** in a specific position unless you wrap the lever 1,000 times with it.

You can place washers or combinations of washers with various thicknesses on top of the shaft prior to screwing on the ****. Trial and error will ultimately result in a satisfactory **** position.
