What type should I get, the brakes are just starting to make noises. Should I just pickup up some ZR perfromance friction from a local parts store, or hold off a little and order something else?
There is Street Performance then Track Performance.
Track Pads don't bite as well on emergency stops but they don't fade or succuum (sp?) to heat issues as Street Pads would. Streets are also harder on rotors.
Max stopping power on occasion, ie: Street? Street Pads with higher grip than Track.
I had Hawk pads and when wringing your car out they are great but make more dust than I cared for. Initial bite also suffers somewhat but if you are really moving they work great. I hear the 02 Z06 pads are very good so that's another option.
Well I know there is street and track performance, you went back and edited your orginal post/question, thus my original short responce. I would say street use, as it will only see a few monthly drag strip runs, and maybe a few track days per year.
I think I will see if the dealer has z06 pads in stock, or just get the best bads from a place like AutoZone/Pepboys/checkers.
Okay, I went ahead and picked up Raybestos QS with Ceramic Enhanced formula. They where $80 for the front pads and $57 for the rears. They also came with lifetime free replacement, let me know what you guys think?
I hear Raybestos are supposed be good, and these are supposed to be a bit better than OEM but on par with them at the very least?
Raybestos are quiet and create no dust, but as far as stopping power, THEY SUCK!! I have had them on my car for about a year now and can't wait to go with a pad that actually stops the car. I will probably keep them for street driving until they wear out but for track sessions this summer I just bought a set of PFC 01s for the front and PFC 99s for the rear.
Unfortunately it is impossible to get awesome braking power, low dust, low noise and long rotor life out of one brake pad.
They are SLIGHTLY worse than stock for street use. Unless you drive the car real hard and use the brakes a lot, you will never notice the difference between them and stock.

I had EBC green's and ended up with alotta hot spots. Toasted the rotors and they were properly bedded.
I had the same problem with my 98 coupe. The EBC will fade from high speed stops. I would not recommend EBC green's for performance. :flag
