While holding the throttle constant at about 2000 rpm for instance, the car will surge slightly. It is not noticed while accellerating, only while holding steady or decellerating. It's like the accellerator is overly sensitive. It was not that way before the Vararam install. All connections are tight. I installed it about 2 months ago. Anybody had similar experience?
I had the same problem with my 2004 Z06 after changing from the original style Vararam to the new B2 version. I was also getting the check engine light and bank one lean codes on the DTC. My engine had previosly been dyno tuned with the old intake.

My 2000 frc also does what you describe and has that intake. I've only had the car for a few days and have not put 2 and 2 together untill I saw this thread. Have had many C5's but none that have done this. This is also the only one I've had with the Veraram
Good to know. I have a Vararam, but was waiting till spring to put it on. Might wait until I plan some other mods and then get a tune to make the car run best.
I installed the Vararam B2 system on my wife's 2001 6-speed Convertible, at the same time as my Z06 installation. It has the factory honeycomb MAF sensor screen. It has not been tuned, but has a Corsa exhaust system.
The car runs great and does not exhibit the surging that my tuned Z06 did after the install.
Stock Z06's do not have a laminar airflow straightener on the MAF sensor like the other models do.
I now am a fan for not "de-screening" your MAF sensor.
Mine did that after install for about a month; then never happened again. In any case, I've since installed long tubes and had a new tune done for them plus the VR, so in a few weeks when the snow is gone I'll see how she runs!
I put a Vararam (b2) on my '02 Z06 along with their Power Duct.
The Power Duct caused codes, so I took it back out until
I could get a dyno tune. It ran fine with just the Vararam.
Did you unplug the battery when you put in the vararam? If not, you should unhook the battery for about an hour or so. Then hook it up again and go driving around for a bit. The ecu should start to relearn the intake. Should help a bit.

I installed the Vararam and Power Duct on my 99. It didn't have the surge problem. It seemed to run fine. I took it in for a dyno tune and I'm glad I did. Under normal driving it did run fine but my Tech started to pull the first run and had to shut it down immediately. It was running way too lean. He said under normal driving the computer was able to make the adjustments. Under hard driving I could have burnt a hole in my pistons. Fortunately I was driving it cool. You need to watch out for extra lean conditions!!
I just installed the b2 w/bridge on my 2000 and the only thing I had was the check engine light came on, once I shut it off and restarted it never came on again. I also had to keep the MAF in front of the bridge, in 2000 they used 2 different motor mounts from what I've been told and I got the ones that sit the motor lower so I had a hell of time just getting the coupler and bridge to fit so there was no way of getting the MAF in front of the TB.
