Long tube headers will give you better performance but are harder to install. Short tube headers are easier to install but sacrifice some (~10) horsepower. There are variations from brand to brand within each of these general header types and lots of debate about which brand gives the best performance, has the best quality, and is the easiest to install. Cost figures into this equation somewhere too.
I want to do headers next on my Z06. I'll do long tube headers and plan on doing the install myself. I just haven't decided on a brand yet.
I've debated between TPIS and Belanger - think I will go with Belanger because of the claimed gains at lower rpms - something to do with their Y configuration.
Also, am told that wrapping part of the header will help with heat and noise - any thoughts on this?

Re: Header Question (fxrhm)
The previous owner of my car had the headers ceramic coated and wrapped, because with just the coating one of the spark plugs would continually burn. no problems after they were wrapped. I wonder if the pup converters contribute to the heat.
I think TTS headers are the best long tubes for a stock displacement LS1 engine. Their slightly smaller tube diameter helps produce more low and mid-range torque than larger diameter headers.
They are still the best quality long tubes I have seen and unlike other header brands, none of our customers have ever had a quality problem with them.
We usually have them in stock for all years of C5. Drop me an email for more information or pricing.
