i guess my car had the work done at the dealer, and there shouldnt be any issues with it leaving me stranded, but i still get the code on the dash, (pull key weight 10 sec.)
the kit from corvettes of houston for $50 is that what will make it go away?
Sometimes,if the contacts in the ignition switch,or the resistor pellet on the key are dirty, you'll get that message from the DIC -it MAY not be a column lock related thing
Try cleaning the pellet contacts(little black thing on the key) and the contacts in the switch with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol and see if that helps-it cured the same problem on my 98 MN6
Haven't heard real good things about the dealer "fix",so it may be worth the $50 clb just to be sure.
There is no "good" place to be stranded in your Vette.

It may not help. Some of the early cars, 1997 through 2000, get the error message even with a CLB installed. I would find a tuner with either EFI Live or HP Tuners tuning software and have the fuel shutoff set to a large number like 200mph and ignore the error message. The message is just annoying. The fuel shutoff strands you.
i guess this was already done, so there should be no issues with being stranded, i just have the annoying message
