I got some nitto 555R's on 17", wide spoke C5 rims I've used. I'm getting 1.8-1.99 60' times now. Some people at a local F-body club said ET Streets are way better, made by BFG I think?
Anyhow, my best times are not at WOT off the line, and they claim these tires would stick so hard I would be able to just punch it?
Can any one shed some light on what will have monster grip. :D
I am not sure, but I think the ET streets are not made by BFG (again, I am not sure on that) Anyway, I have heard a lot of good things about the ET streets and the BFG drag radials with the ET streets seeming to be the most popular of the two. I know the tire rack sells them where they do the 'heat cycling' for you and they claim several benefits to having this done, check their website for more info. One thing is for sure, you will DEF. see an improvement off the line and yes those tires will stick. Hope your drivetrain will hold up, it's the next in line to go as you getting sticky tires!! If you are getting that good of 60 ft times with street tires, I wish I could get down in that range, got any tips for me?
Well on my BFG DR on 17" rims I cut a best of 1.61 60'. I can cut 1.6-1.7 all day long on good, worn, hot BFG drags. ET streets are very good also, they are made by Mickey Thompson.
Well the Nitto 555s are Drag Radials. I run Firehawks as street tires. Off the line, if you use anything close to WOT (at least in my car) your 60' is shot. I had best results with 1/4 throttle for about 2 seconds then WOT, and would get next to no wheel spin with a good take off :D. If you have an A4, be sure to keep it in first, so if you have to let up a little due to wheel spin, it won't up shift and be ready to go when you mash it again :)
So as you can see, I think if my tires would let me do WOT right off the line, my times would be even greater :) Any more info on ET Streets would help!
It looks like your car is set up similiarly to mine. With the ET's, I slam it off the line, leaving it in 3rd with little or no wheel spin. You do have to heat them up pretty good before hand. I have had consistent 1.7 60 ft times.
the ET Streets are a Mickey Thompson tire. you will find them at a real good price at Summit Racing in the 26x11.5x16 size. they dont come in a 17" or bigger dia yet. so, this means you have to acquire a 16" rim with the 5x4.75 bolt pattern which is no problem. find an old set of 4th gen F-body rims for cheap.
