I know Powdercoating needs to heat the product to about 450 degrees. Will the Composite intake handle that temp? I want to get a 2002 intake and have it "Chrome" colored Powdercoated.
Re: Powder Coating intake manifold. Will it work? (chuckster)
Powdercoating requires that the part to be coated is conductive. I believe the intake manifold is made from plastic, and not conductive. It is possible to have a conductive coating applied to the plastic piece first, and then apply the powdercoat. Your are correct that the part is heated to about 450 degrees during the curing process. It will be expensive to powdercoat the intake.

Assuming you were able to do this, powder-coating it would make it harder for the intake to dissipate heat efficiently. Why do that? You don't want to do anything that would raise the intake temperature.
I do know that a company "powder-coats" MDF board for table tops and counters, so it can be done with wood products at least.

Since the intake is composite it does not need to dissapate heat. Since it really can't absorb any and is a bad head conductor it does not need to dissapate any.

Chuckster, there have been many guys on LS1.com paint their intakes very nicely. They can use pretty much any type of paint. Just run it by a body shop and they could do it very easily :) and in any color
