I traded an 04 for another 04 and I kept my wheels and tires .. In this new 04 , I get the code tire sensor needs servicing . I didn't have this problem in my old 04 . What can be the problem ?
Remember these are the same tires and wheels from my old car which didn't have any sensor problem at all .

3. Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank.
4. Press and hold the DIC RESET button for 3 seconds.
5. Press the OPTIONS button again until the TIRE TRAINING message appears.
6. Press the RESET button until the IPC LEARN L FRONT TIRE message appears in order to begin the programming sequence.
7. Install the J 41760 (Magnet) over the left front valve stem.

Get a fairly powerful magnet at a hardware store, you don't need the GM tool.
My local hardware store sells a circular magnet that is about 2 1/2" in diameter and about 1/4 " thick. It has a metal cover on the sides and top. Magnet is exposed on the bottom. Magnet is hollow in the middle with about a 1" inside diameter (like a flat donut). There is a 1/8" hole in the center top of the metal casing. Drill this out so it will fit over the valve stem. Cost was $ 1.95 + tax. Works on my '99 and '04. Magnet with the metal cover weighs about 2 oz. and seems strong enough to do the job.
Next time you throw a computer away, pull the HD out and tear it apart. There are two magnets in there......and you will NOT believe how strong they are. I keep a couple on hand for many reasons, one being re-programming my sensors.
