Trying to fix an issue with a Corvette, my father left the windows down during a rain storm and now the radio and Front seat do not work. (Seat continually wants to go forward. I have looked at the fuses (all good) and I have even replaced the little black box under the seat a nice 200 dollar wasted... Any ideas of what it could be would be appreciated. Oh and the radio is completely dead, no time displayed, nothing.
Pull your codes. I'll guess that you'll see some "NO Comms" messages. I suggest disconnecting one system at a time such as the door control modules, then seat module. Look for water in or on the BCM which is in the passenger footwell.
Try disconnecting the LDCM, then the RDCM and see if the radio comes to life. This will eliminate them from being the cause or verify that one or more is causing issues.
It's all dry, this has been like this for a couple of months. It turns out I was ignorant and when I went to look at the BCM surprise surprise there is another fuse box down there, I found the radio fuse was blown, But my seat still moves forward, could it be the circuit breaker? Or should I continue and disconnect the LDCM and the RDCM and see if that stops it from going forward.
This corvette is a striped model. It didn't even come with memory options... I have it disconnected at the moment I push back on the adjuster and it will stop the motion of the chair going forward, but won't let it go back? curious.
I think that is the one I replaced, I made sure the numbers matched when I ordered the part. I don't know what SMC means then, I thought it was the black box with the three different plugs that hook into it. It also attaches to the seat using the metal seat wires to secure it to the bottom almost right in the center of the seat. I am going to look at it this weekend and try and figure it out again, I will take pictures and maybe a video to show what I mean. To clarify the seat moves forward to the point of heating the motor and draining the battery it does not stop.
The seat DOES NOT MOVE forward with the seat switch plug pulled, I opened the switch up and took pictures.....I can't see too much wrong with it, of course I am no expert either...what do you guys think?
