I still have my Mathew Harlan programable shift light that I never installed on my Camaro SS. Harlan tells me it will work on the Vette also. (Makes sense, both are LS1's) For those of you who are not familiar with it, take a look: http://harlan.sketchy.net/store/store.html
I LOVE my shift light.... here's a pic of it installed.... you can't see it at all unless it is lit up... It is completely obvious, even in your peripheral vision, even in daylight, when it lights.. They light is VERY bright..
FYI, it is the MSD unit, which accepts the plug in modules for activation point. I have mine set to 6400 for my 6900 redline..
Does anyone know where to pick up the signal from the PCM? Like what wire #, I believe its #10 and white but not sure? Since I'm new with the 2000 Vette where do they hide the PCM, is it under the battery? Sooooooo many questions and no time to work on the car. Any info is most appreciated!
I just removed the dash top, turned it upside down, unscrewed the vent, cut a hole for the light to fit inside the vent, reattached the vent to the dash pad, and reinstalled it. Wire run really easily when the dash top is off..
I also have the Harlen shift light. I used mushroom fasteners ran the wire behind the a pillar and used the mushroom fasteners to stick it to the a pillar, no holes drilled and is removeable.
I'm :mad on Mathew Harlan( http://harlan.sketchy.net/store/store.html ). I payed him $50 September last year for a shiftlight. Nothing happened, January 8 this year I emailed him and asked what was going on. His reply was quoting "I will go back and check, I thought that it had been shipped out months ago". After that reply nothing happened. I sent a new email February 11 asking him to repay my $50 if he could not ship. Still no reply and he have not payed me back.
I would say, watch out when doing business with him. :mad
The PCM is located on the passenger side of the car. You have to remove the inner fender well on the left side of the passenger wheel. The PCM is behind the panel. It is a pain to get to. Then I believe it is the white wire #10 on the red pcm connector. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Going from memory here.
Looks like you've got a HUD. If you do, you already have a Shift light. Check out the top right when you get near the rev limit and it will say "SHIFT". Work great when just displaying speed.
If you already knew this, then never mind. Took me a while before someone pointed it out. ;)
Garceeya........... Thanks for the reply, but still  as to your statement (You have to remove the inner fender well on
the left side of the passenger wheel.) . Is this in the engine compartment or under the passenger air bag side of the car?
You access the PCM from outside the car. Take off your front passenger side tire. When looking at the brakes you will see an access door on the left side.
Remove a few screws and one or two from the bottom and remove the panel door.
