The one I put on had double sided sticky tape on it. Just slip a putty knife behind it and gently pry it off.

Yep, it's probably on there with double sided tape. If you get it off, you may want to try using velcro on the re-install

a heavy monofilament fishing line or dental flosss
pulling back and forth in a sawing motion

that is how I took mine off.
I then used some new double sided trim tape to re adhere it.

You can try to pry it off carefully with a screwdriver or get a hacksaw blade behind it and try to cut it out. When you reattach it, I would not trust the double sided tape. Mine kept falling off with the tape. I used clear silicone caulk to secure it. This will keep it secure and make removal easy as well.

much easier just to use some good velcro. A lot less of a mess as well.

Simple... hot air gun (or hair dryer gun) floss string, heat up behind aiming the hot air at the two sided tape (need someone else to hold this in place... then run the dental floss string top and bottom pulling and cutting the melting two sided tape... it will fall off shortly.. good luck.

working from the bottom, gently push a wide blade putty knife up while moving it from side to side. It will slowly work it's way through the adhesive, and you'll be able to pull it off. I do not agree with the Velcro for re-attachment however, it would make it too easy for someone to remove. Use 3M double sided tape to re-attach.

The plate I removed had double-sided tape so adhesive they could have used it to couple railroad cars together. The putty-knife routine advised by the other forum members will work, but be careful to keep the knife pressed against the plate and not scar the car's tub or whatever you call that thing the plate is attached to. Good luck; you'll have fun. Remember any car job goes better with plenty of profanity, and if possible a blood sacrifice(skinned knuckles from a slipped putty knife will do nicely--the car gods have to be satisfied).
