Should I get Windshield Replaced?

In reviewing my auto insurance policy and after talking to my agent, I discovered I have glass coverage. Not sure how I missed this before, but anyway, moving on:
I think after a month or two I'll put this to work for me. (I want to wait for the city to pick up the gravel / rocks from the roads first).
Reasons I want to replace the windshield:
1. I have 3 good-sized chips and a bazillion really tiny "sandblasting" marks
2. Top windshield molding is a little loose
3. Windshield has a film of window tint (really light, 85% I think) that I want off
4. Insurer has assured me that my premium will not be affected if I get a new windshield
5. Deductible is only $100
Reasons I don't want to replace the windshield:
1. I hear its very difficult to get an actual Z06 windshield out of a glass company
2. Worries about the quality of the install
3. Not sure I trust item 4 above.
What do you guys think? Any foolproof ways to verify that the windshield going in, is in fact a Z06 windshield? Anything else I should worry about?

I've replaced windshields on my other cars many times. A bad windshield is considered a safety hazzard and replaing it is encouraged by most insurance companies.
Here's how you do it.
1. Tell the insurance company that you want to choose the company.
2. Go to the dealership and tell them you want their glass guys to do the work and you want the real deal. If that works out, you're golden.
3. Bring the car to them and do a complete walk around the car, inside and out, note any damage, write it on the workorder and have the manager and yourself sign the statement. Tell them that you expect no damage whatsoever and that they will repair whatever they damage. Make sure they know that touch-up paint is not acceptible.
4. Drive away.
By this time they know you are serious and the glass guy will hawk over the installer and make sure it is done right. I have done this and had no issues. The car was clean, windshield perfect and the deductable was as advertised.
However, there is always a chance...
He pointed it out to me when I bought the car. It's not in my line of sight and hasn't increased in size in four years.
For all of the same reasons you've listed, I've chosen not to get the windshield replaced at this time even with full coverage glass replacement and no deductible. I believe that may vary from state to state. I may have it filled in before I have the windshield replaced.
There's been plenty of past threads with the GM part number for the thinner Z06 HUD glass. If you choose to do it, insure you get the correct equivalent replacement windshield.

The big problem with my replacement was the first installer tried to reuse the door trim and weatherstrip and on the second install the installer did both the windshield and the trim/weatherstrip. If you go that route make sure you keep the old blow out clips from the previous door trim. GM has stopped providing those clips. I didn't realize they were missing for a couple days and by that time the trash had been hauled away.
In another 4 years a fair number of those parts won't be available at all as they generally stop providing parts for car models that are over 10 years old.
