Default 04 gas gauge

My gas gauge dropped to e the other day.Tried the techtron trick and seafoam trick but no help. Now my question is,is the sending units different on the 04 models than say the 97-02 models?I heard they were on top of the tanks. My mechanic said that he was gonna have to drop the tank to replace it and was 10hrs labor.Do you have to drop the tanks on the 04's and also is there any tricks i can tell him to shave some time off the labor hrs.I know the gas gauge question has been asked many times but the ones i see were early models.reason why i asked.thanks fellas

I purchased my 04 new. Within a short time I had trouble with my gas gauge dropping to empty. I took it back to the dealer and he dropped the tanks in order to replace the sending unit. I have tried different additives from time to time with no permanent success. I started purchasing mobile gas a year ago and I have not had any re-occurrence of the problem.

The OP has an 04, his gage and pump must be removed from the top and that will require droping both tanks.

In 02 the pump and sending unit was moved from the back of the tank to the top.
