A/C won't blow cold. Heat works fine. Install a new A/C compressor belt. When you turn the A/C on, you can hear the compressor click and the clutch engages and turns. Freon level is good. Any idea what could be the problem (short of installing a new compressor!)?

I put the gauges on the ports and hooked up the freon tank and it wouldn't take anymore freon.
That doesn't tell me much. Since you had the gauges, did you take note of high/low side pressures, and compare those values contained in the service manual?
I did. The readings were in the specified range. I've also checked the fuses. On a related issue, the digital display on the A/C - Heat controls is dim to black. But I've read on this forum that it is usually a broken/cold solder issue. I assumed that it doesn't affect the operation since the heat, blower speed, and outlet directions are working.
Ya know, I'm not trying to be difficult.....but when you ask for help, and someone takes the time to respond.......and you don't even read your own thread....it makes it difficult for those trying to assist you.
Read post #4 again.....I don't have the patience for cat and mouse..but there are many knowledgeable guys on this forum to help.
WOW! I didn't know that you could read the codes like that! I'm currently in my office and won't be able to check the codes until this evening. I'll download the relevant code sheet for 2000 model year and check against any codes that show up. Thanks again and I sincerely apologize for overlooking that link.
