HELP.. rough running

my 2k 6 spd. is runnin rough ,its got heads ,cam,exhaust & was was tuned by ECS a few years ago ,ran great up until last october ,ran a new tank of gas thru it & it runs rough & backfires ,no codes stored just a flashin check engine light ,took it to a close by pep boys (I know) he didnt know cause of no codes ,clears up a little above 2500 rpm any ideas?

It could be something as simple as a bad ignition wire.

could also be a broken valve spring - how many miles on the springs after the cam install??

I would check the plugs and wires first. That might be a good start. Good luck

I still have the stock wires ,I have 26 k on the motor ,had about 19k when I did the install

And what is the result of inspecting the plugs and wires?

You know your stuff ,I changed the plugs & put the stock wires on & it runs damn strong ,hard to believe thats what it was ,the mechanic at pep boys was clueless,lesson learned ,thanx & I mean that.
